Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!

Fearfully and Wonderfully Made!

Every morning as I sit in my bathroom drying my hair, brushing my teeth, putting on my face moisturizer and going through all my other morning rituals, I find myself talking to the Lord about lots of different things. Usually I spend the time praying for others or praising the Lord for recent blessings.

However, one morning as my symptoms were overwhelming me more than usual, I found myself having the following conversation with the Lord.

"Lord, please forgive me, but I'm really not feeling fearfully and wonderfully made like it says in Your Word. Between the pain in my right shoulder, the constant pressure in my head, the horrible pain in my neck, the issues with my eyes and of course the unrelenting balance issues, I'm feeling anything but fearfully and wonderfully made! Father, I need Your help."

Yes, I was telling the Lord exactly how I felt. It was said with a truly sincere heart as tears were streaming down my face.

I finished up in the bathroom, headed to the kitchen to make myself a quick breakfast and then found my way to my "prayer closet", which happens to be my special spot on the living room couch! This is "my" place! This is where I do the majority of my praying, Bible reading and working on my Bible studies.

Well, the thought of being fearfully and wonderfully made or I should say, the lack of not feeling it, was still gnawing at me.

So I decided to meditate upon the verse, look up some words, and talk to the Lord some more.

Here's the part of the verse which I was talking about

"I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:"
Psalm 139:14

I think we all know what the word "will" means. Not maybe. Not when I feel like it. Not an option. I WILL! But I must make the choice.

"Praise" as defined by Webster's Bible Dictionary is, "to extol in words or song; to magnify; to glorify on account of perfections or excellent works. To do honor to; to display the excellence of."

"Thee" of course is referring to the Lord.

"I am" is stating a fact. Not I hope so. Not I might. I AM!

"Fearfully" as defined by Webster's Bible Dictionary, "in a manner to impress admiration and astonishment."

"Wonderfully" as defined by Webster's Bible Dictionary, is an adverb which means "to excite wonder or surprise."

"Made" is merely another word for created.

As I was looking up the different words I read some of the commentaries and even blogs concerning this particular verse. Many of them took the viewpoint of each of us being uniquely made. That God makes no mistakes and that He can use each of us no matter our circumstances. Which I whole heartily agree with.

But God (there's my favorite two words again!) showed me the verse in a different way and that's what I'd like to share with you.

When I was talking to the Lord about this verse, I had just awoke from a good night's sleep which was a special joy since insomnia has a way of overtaking my sleep at times.

I can't explain sleep.

How our body about loses consciousness when we fall asleep, and yet we continue breathing, our heart continues pumping blood, and yet in a second's notice, if need be, we can be wide awake and functioning!

It's all a mystery to me but it's proof that I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

After I awoke from sleep, I walked to the bathroom, showered and went through all my beauty rituals!

How did my legs, knees, arms, elbows, feet and toes know exactly what they needed to do so I could accomplish what I wanted?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

How did my joints, cartilage and bones move without breaking?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

How did the blood flow to my arteries and vessels so I could move?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

Yes, once I get where I am going, I must do everything sitting down due to severe balance issues, but even so, how does my body remain upright while I'm walking and sitting?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

As I was eating breakfast and lunch, how did my body know what vitamins, nutrients and supplements to pull out of the food, and then break them down in order to give me energy, support my immune system and strengthen my teeth and bones?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

When I moved to my prayer closet, how did my eyes work together in unison moving back and forth and up and down so that I could read my Bible?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

How was my brain able to comprehend what I was reading?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

How was I able to recall later in the day what I had read that morning?

Because I am fearfully and wonderfully made!

I could continue on, but I think you get my point!

I know many of you reading this struggle with some sort of chronic illness or the aches and pains of growing older and it does get very hard at times to realize that you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

You just don't

FEEL it!

I totally understand! There are MANY days that I don't feel it either. However, that doesn't take away from the TRUTH of the verse!

I truly hope that what the Lord spoke to me about the other morning will be an encouragement to you as well.

Even on the hardest of days. Even when we're not feeling it at all, I still believe if we try hard enough we will be able to find at least one thing, no matter how small, to cause us to say, "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made:"
Psalm 139:14

So agree, Barb - we have been designed by a Master Craftsman. If we study the human eye with all its intricacies, there is no doubt that we are fearfully and wonderfully made - and that is only one part of human makeup! I like this expansion of the verse - thank you, my friend. Love and hugs from across the ocean. ❤️

Oh I know, Linda, it's been our comprehension how the Lord created every single part of our bodies!
We truly are fearfully and wonderfully made!
I enjoyed looking up the different words. I may do more of that in upcoming posts.
This post was an extra special joy to my heart to write and you know why ... thank you so much for your prayers and words of wisdom!
Loads of love and appreciation coming from me to you ♡♡
