Counting Them One By One!

Counting Them One By One!

I'm kicking off this post with a question for you to answer! What do you do when you find yourself with a case of the "mully grubs"? Singing the blues? Cantankerous? Down in the mouth? In the pits? Down right fed up?

Maybe you phone a friend and for the next four hours you share every single struggle you've ever experienced beginning with the time mean ole' Johnny Jones had the nerve to steal your red crayon way back in kindergarten!

Do you go on an all out shopping spree buying things just for the sake of buying them to make yourself feel better only to crash and burn when the credit card bill comes due?

You resort to yelling at anyone and everyone who crosses your path. You kick the dog. You huff and puff and about blow the house down!

Maybe you wrap yourself up in your own little cocoon where no one can reach you. Refusing to answer your phone or respond to text messages. Definitely making it known you want to be left alone, and you'll emerge from your cocoon when you're good and ready and not a second before!

Do any of those scenarios resonate with you when you are down in the dumps?

When you are having a self-proclaimed pity party?

When all you can see are your problems piled a mile high?

I know I can relate to one or two of those reactions!

But let me give you a solution that works wonders for me whenever I find myself falling prey to "The Me, Myself and I Syndrome!"

Of course reading my Bible and praying come first, but then I do the next best thing!

I write

in my

Blessings

Book!

I hear you asking,

"Barb, what exactly is A Blessings Book?"

It's simply a book in which you record your blessings from the Lord!

Easy Peasy!

You may be thinking,

"Okay, Barb, so how does writing down blessings actually help me get out of a bad mood or a pity party?"

My response,

"It's simple! By focusing on your blessings you are no longer focusing on your problems!"

IT'S

IMPOSSIBLE

TO BE

UPSET

AND

CRANKY

WHILE

THANKING

AND

PRAISING

THE LORD

FOR HOW

HE IS

BLESSING

YOU!

Your Blessings Book can be any type of book which you choose. A pretty book decorated with colorful, beautiful flowers or a simple three-ring notebook bought at your local Dollar Store! I've used both types in the past.

I currently keep my Blessings Book as a Word document on my cell phone as well as on my tablet.

Since there are many nights when I have a difficult time falling asleep, I like to use that time to update my Blessings Book on my phone and then send the updated Word document to my tablet for the next day!

It's my heart's desire to write in my Blessings Book every day, however, that has not become a reality as of yet. That is one of my goals for 2019!

This may all sound new and a bit confusing to you, so I'd like to share just a few of the entries from my personal Blessings Book to give you an idea of what I'm talking about!

These are in no particular order and were chosen completely at random.

** Gods strength to ride three miles on my bike!

** Thankful for the promise found in James 1:5 reminding me if I lack wisdom that I can ask God and He will provide it liberally (bountifully, freely) and He will not upbraid (chide, reprove with severity) me for asking Him!

** Got to chat with Shelly today! What a SPECIAL JOY!

** JESUS ... what a beautiful name!

** Laughter!

** Was able to wash all the dinner dishes tonight! It felt great to be a help to Brian!

** Very thankful to know that I'm NEVER alone! PRAISE GOD!

** Thankful for the strength of the Lord to be able to visit with Mom and Grandpop on Christmas Eve Day! VERY SPECIAL BLESSING!

** God's AMAZING love!

** The salvation Jesus gave to me through His death, burial and resurrection! BEST PRAISE EVER!

** PRAISE! Christina is out of the hospital and at home!

** Received a surprise package in the mail today from my new friends Marcia, Sheri and Suzi! Their thoughtfulness made my day!

** Thankful, by God's grace, I was able to go on a lunch truck date yesterday with my man! Enjoyed the company, the food, the fresh air and sunshine! Thank You, Lord!

** Prayer/me for others and others for me! Being able to pray 24/7, any where, about any thing! Thank You, Lord for this PRIVILEGE!

That my friends is just a VERY SMALL sampling from my Blessings Book!

As you can see, the Lord brings to mind big blessings, small blessings, ALL kinds of blessings!

Once I begin writing, it's truly amazing the blessings the Lord brings to mind!

Sometimes it's hard to write as fast as the blessings are being revealed by the Lord!

If you desire to look beyond yourself, your circumstances and your problems, please try writing in your own personal Blessings Book. You won't regret it!

I GUARANTEE

IT WILL BE

A

HUGE

BLESSING

TO YOU!

Even if

I could

write

in my

Blessings

Book

one thousand

times a day,

I could

NEVER

thank Him

ENOUGH

because

I AM

SO

BLESSED!

Aww!!! Thank you Barb. Oxoxox. I so needed this. My day started at 1ish as I got awake and lay in bed then using my phone as a relaxant. And it worked i was relaxed but not enough to sleep. Weird how that works isn't it? And there I was still awake when my hubs alarm rang at 5:30. What a blessing to be able to be awake with him this morning. Why don't I feel extremely tired like normal? Until I start trying to get children around for the day. Then it's the stormy huffing and puffing you described but brought short by your post. How ashamed I am and so contrite. That's no way to raise children. And now we are having a praiseworthy morning!!! I love it when HE works that way. And your post this morning made warm circles around our hearts. Love you. HUGS for your day. Prayers , Your Fellow Zebra
