Spotting The Differences!

"Do we ever think about how the things we do and say will affect non-believers?" 

Two VERY

power packed

questions

to ponder!

More than likely most of us are mindful of what our church family and other Christian friends think about our conduct, but what about how the non-believers are viewing our lives?

Are they able to spot the differences?

We need to remember we are walking, talking representatives for our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

“He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.”
I John 2:6

How about when Christians take to social media just to criticize and tear apart other Christians or anyone for that matter?

How about that off-color joke the believer tells during lunch break? 

What if I began using curse words, gossip and ripping people up right here on this website?  

First off, I would hope, Lord willing, some of you would call me out on it! But what would the non-believing world think?

I'd just be showing them that there's really no difference when you live your life for Jesus!

On the way home from our truck date Brian and I take a detour and stop at a liquor store. A few hours later we're pulled over by the police and Brian is arrested for drunk driving.

I cringe at the thought of making the phone call to our son to give him that news and subsequently hearing our precious nine-year old granddaughter say, "I thought Pops and Grammy loved Jesus!"

What about when my lost family members find out? These are the ones who have shunned me for the way I live my life for the Lord.

Now what would they have to say?

How about Brian's co-workers who know and respect his Christian testimony?

Now how would they view his testimony for the Lord?

So as believers

are we supposed

to be perfect?

NO!

Because that's

TOTALLY impossible!

In fact, it's impossible to live the Christian life apart from surrendering DAILY, and even moment by moment, to the power of the Holy Spirit Who indwells every believer.

We are all guilty of doing and saying things that are wrong, but we need to seriously think about how these things are affecting the non-believers who hear and see them.

Non-believers should be able to look at us and wonder what it is that we have, and how they can get it!

They NEED to be able to spot the differences!

“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.”
Philippians 2:15

This is another statement I found while researching,

"When people were asked to describe Christians, adjectives like, judgmental, hypocritical, close-minded, insensitive, too critical and too political were most often cited."

That right there

is an EXTREMELY 

sad and sobering

statement!

What non-believers should be seeing displayed in believers is,

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."
Galatians 5:22-23

People need to clearly be able to spot the differences!

What's one thing I can purpose, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to change in my life today that would cause others to notice a difference in the way in which I live, and in doing so, cause them to want to know WHO is making that difference in my life?
