Some weeks the words for these posts just seem to flow without hesitation and then there are weeks like this past week!
I had a post which was over halfway written and thought it was going rather well, but one afternoon as I read over it, I realized I had no peace at all with the wording. I could sense the Holy Spirit of God telling me, "No, this is not what I want you to write."
So needless to say that post got sent straight to the trash bin!
Next, I began research for a post which would be written on the history behind one of my most favorite hymns.
Just as I finished reading the first research page, I felt that very same tug at my heart from God's Holy Spirit letting me know this was not it either!
I continued to pray.
I continued to think of ideas.
The Lord continued to say, "No!"
By now I was beginning to get somewhat panicky since there are only so many hours in which to write the post, edit, find a featured photo, edit some more, choose a song, edit again, make changes, all before hitting publish!
I pray and strive each week to share uplifting, encouraging, comforting words with all of you, but that's where I was struggling. Because you see, as I began working on this particular post, I honestly was not feeling uplifted, encouraged or comforted.
WHY?
I was allowing my chronic illness, my symptoms, my emotions, the fact of missing out on all the fun stuff of life, etc. etc. etc. to twist and obscure all the blessings which I DO enjoy in my life.
At the time I was suffering from tunnel vision.
I was only seeing what I wanted to see. And what I was seeing was ME! And to think I could write a post to encourage all of you??!!
As I was lying down one afternoon, I found myself asking the Lord once again, this time with true sincerity, what He would have me to write for this week.
In the small still voice of the Lord's Holy Spirit, I heard, "Why not share what has encouraged you the most over these past few weeks?"
So today, you will NOT be receiving any uplifting words of encouragement or comfort from me.
Instead I will be sharing the words of another.
Uplifting words which bring me MUCH encouragement and comfort when I need them the most.
I pray these words will be as much of a blessing to you as they are to me!
"Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."
Psalm 46:10
"For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
Romans 8:18
"He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds."
Psalm 147:3

"Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance."
Psalm 42:5
"Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you."
I Samuel 12:24
"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Philippines 4:6-7

"But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth."
Psalm 86:15
"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27
“Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus?”
Romans 9:20

"Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you."
I Samuel 12:24
"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”
Hebrews 4:16
“The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.”
Psalm 28:7

"The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him."
Nahum 1:7
“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
Colossians 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
John 3:16-17

"Father, this world may leave us feeling battered, bruised and beat up, but Your Word is a balm for our breaking hearts and a salve for our shattered lives. Thank You, Lord, for Your timeless truths which have been preserved for us in Your Holy Word. Truths which bring hope, peace, comfort, joy and most of all teach us how to know Your Son, Jesus Christ, as our personal Saviour. Father, thank You for Your amazing grace and unending love.
In Jesus Holy Name, Amen."

October 26, 2017 at 3:53 amBarb, your post reminds me of David's psalms. You started by post by telling us you were looking at the circumstances, yet you ended the post sharing the blessings you've received through scripture. David so often did much the same starting a Psalm about his troubles but then ending up giving God praise and glory! The verses you shared are a balm to my soul - many of them go-to verses. "Be still and know that I am God" is one I keep returning to. Thank you for blessing me, and all your readers, with these verses which hold glorious truths. Lots of love and hugs from miles and miles of ocean ❤️.
