SOOOOO, did reading the title of the post cause you to break out in singing??!!
I think we're all more than just a tab bit familiar with, "The Sound Of Music"!
Most of us probably can't even count the number of times we've watched and sang along to this timeless musical featuring Maria, Captain Georg von Trapp and especially all of those adorable von Trapp children!
How about this scene as Maria is singing to the children in an effort to distract them from the flashing lightning and crashing thunder happening right outside the bedroom window. As she sings, she reminds them of a few of her favorite things!

Now you can say, "Thanks so much, Barb!"
FOR WHAT?
Because you'll have that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day! You'll be twirling and swirling all around your house as you sing at the top of your lungs causing the rest of your family to become a bit unnerved!!
The last stanza of the song says,
"When the
dog bites,
when the
bee stings,
when I'm
feeling sad,
I simply remember
my favorite things
and then
I don't feel
so bad."
I'd like to share some of my favorite things which I remember when "the dog bites", "when the bee stings" and "when I'm feeling sad".
The things which I recall to my memory and ponder upon truly DO help pull me out of gloom, fear and despair. They cause me to have hope and rejoice!
Here's a list of some of my most favorite things!
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Romans 8:38-39
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
John 3:16
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
II Corinthians 4:17-18
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
I Peter 5:7
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."
II Timothy 1:7
"Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah."
Psalm 62:8
"Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits."
Psalm 103:1-2
"This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness."
Lamentations 3:21-23
Oh don't get me wrong, I have plenty of other favorite things which bring me tremendous joy.
Truck dates with my beloved, making cards for others, writing posts for this website, worshiping the Lord with our church family, having phone conversations with my granddaughter, singing LOUD when one of my favorite songs plays on Pandora, reading a good Christian fiction novel on Amazon Kindle. This particular activity is new to me, and I'm loving it!

March 29, 2017 at 3:47 pmThanks! That's a wonderful list of truly favorite things that are eternal! And it's things that are there no matter how bad we feel, unlike some other things that need to be put aside when we deal to bad. God's ways and promises are always there and He cares. March 30, 2017 at 12:10 amLove the scriptures, Barb - the best thing is that their truths are constant, never changing and are always there for us to draw on. That's an amazing quote from Billy Graham too. Just reading those verses is so encouraging - thank you, dear friend. Oh, and I loved "The Sound of Music"! Sending lots of love and hugs from my corner of the globe to your corner May the joy of the Lord be your strength.
