Even If … My Hope Is YOU Alone

Even If … My Hope Is YOU Alone

Have you ever been in a situation and you just wanted God to fix it NOW?

Not caring at all what the Lord may be accomplishing through the trial?

Just wanting it to be done and over with yesterday?

Saying, "Enough already!"

I think we've all been there a time or two!

Sometimes we desire a God who is more like a genie in a bottle granting to us our every wish and whim. Instead of having an all-knowing, all-powerful, all-sufficient God Who truly DOES KNOW what is best for us, even if it makes no sense to us whatsoever!

I'll be honest enough to say there have been more times than I can count when that's exactly how I treated God.

I'm not proud of it.

I'd be in a major flare up with my symptoms and be feeling so poorly that all I wanted from God was to be healed.

No questions asked. End of conversation.

Not caring what HE wanted for me.

Not seeking the spiritual side of what was taking place.

Just wanting relief.

BUT GOD sees what we can't see.

Oh, yes, He most definitely can heal any and all diseases, if He chooses to.

He certainly can intervene and mend any relationship, if He chooses to.

He can just speak a word and whatever your trial happens to be, it would come to an end, if He chooses to!

Notice the word IF!

A small word with GREAT significance!

When we find ourselves in the midst of any trial, big or small, we need to stop and remember a few things.

First off, we must remember before the trial touched our life, it HAD to go through the hands of our Heavenly Father.

Nothing can touch us without being "approved" by the Lord first!

"I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things."
Isaiah 45:7

Secondly, we must remember that God loves us.

That can be difficult to wrap your head around when you get a pink slip from your employer, a bad report from the doctor or a dreaded phone call in the middle of the night.

The greatest demonstration of God's love for us was sending His only Son to die on the cross so that we could have forgiveness of our sins and one day spend all Eternity with the Lord in Heaven.

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8

Last of all, when trials come, and they will, we need to view them in light of Eternity.

As a believer in Jesus Christ, this life with all its woes, heartaches and trials is the worst it will ever get!

With Christ as our Saviour, this world is NOT our home!

"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
II Corinthians 5:1

"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
II Corinthians 4:17-18

Again, I KNOW that's hard to wrap your head around especially when you're smack dab in the midst of the flames of a hot, fiery trial with no end in sight.

As I type out this post, I'm struggling super bad with my symptoms. So, I'm definitely preaching to myself!

We need to step back from the trial and look at it from God's viewpoint. Through the eyes of faith.

The Lord may be using the trial to draw us closer to Himself.

He may be using it so that we will be able to help someone else down the road with the same sort of difficulty.

God may be using our trial in the life of someone else.

He may be using it to get our attention so we rid our lives of a particular sin or put into practice a specific spiritual practice.

Or we may never know the reason.

In order to have peace WITH GOD and the peace OF GOD in the midst of any and all trials, our hope MUST be in the Lord and in Him alone.

I'd like to share a song that has become one of my new favorite "go to" songs.

This song sums up all that I've been attempting to explain throughout this entire post. In fact the post "came about" due to the song!

"I know

You're able

and I know

You can

save through

the fire

with Your

mighty hand.

But even if

You don't

My hope is

You alone.

I know

the sorrow,

and I know

the hurt

would all

go away

if You'd

just say

the word.

But even if

You don't

My hope is

YOU ALONE."

Trials.....we in our natural selves would never choose them but truth is we all go through difficult times, yes, fiery trials. And never know why. Barb, it's so true that the only way to have that peace that passes all understanding, is to have our hope anchored in the Lord and in Him alone. Praying for strength for you through these days. Love and hugs across the ocean❤
